This is an open position with Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [CEI]

Location: Cleveland, OH


A. Duties


Under general directive supervision, performs manual and routine work in the handling, reclamation, refurbishing, assembling and processing of materials and equipment; operates material processing equipment; and performs work with the assistance of equal or less skilled employees in this process; performs duties such as:

I. Sorting scrap; selecting usable material and that which can be reclaimed;• dismantling and stripping enhance conduits, meter boxes, sheet light brackets, transformers and other such line and service assemblies mid hardware. •
2. Move, handle, unload, receive, transfer, lift and place materials associated with the material handling process; driving Company motor vehicles, forklifts, lift equipment, including• trucks, as required.
3. Handles cable and wire, measures, cuts, recoils as needed in the reclamation of cable and wire.
4. Repairing and assembly of items and fixtures of simple construction; such as pallets, racks, bins, shelving, crates and boxes; assembling units such as splice and dead end assemblies, cutout brackets, lamp/lighting brackets, temporary meter units, etc,
5. Performing simple mechanical operations on wood and metal; using power and hand tools and ordinary power shop equipment where templates or layouts are provided, or where close tolerances are not required.
6. Preparing and handling materials and equipment to be worked on; cleaning or preparing surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, buffing, sandblasting, soaking or washing.
7, Fitting and dipping crossarms; painting items such as lamp brackets, reels and drums, ladders, wood switch boxes, pipe, conduit and barricades with brushes, spray guns and dipping tanks.
8. Performing minor maintenance on, or replacing items such as window glass, burned out lamps and tubes; washing and painting walls; cleaning and oiling shop machine tools and equipment; cleaning and sweeping shop floors, clearing aisles and work spaces of surplus materials and equipment with the use of hand or power tools.
9. Promotes and ensures a safe, clean work environment through direct action and in accordance with standards and regulations.
I0, Ensures refurbished equipment and material is in an acceptable reusable condition to be
•prior to packaging and placement in inventory,
11, Ensures inventory levels are accurate and maintained in the data base.
12. Performing other similar and less skilled work as directed by the Company.



B. Qualifications


Must meet the Company's requirements as to General Qualifications and be able to perform all the duties of a Material Processing Helper; and in addition:

I. Must be able to •understand instruction, and learn simple, routine procedures and provide training, instruction and assistance to employees who have equal or less skilled duties.
2. Must have good communication skills.
3. Must be proficient in and have working knowledge with computers.
4. Must have practical knowledge of the connect, safe use and care of common mechanic's tools and hand tools.
5. Must understand the function, operation and care of simple machinery and show aptitude for, as well as interest in, mechanical work type work where necessary.
6. Must be able to make calculations in arithmetic involving fractions and decimals; know common weights and measures; take accurate measurements
7. Must have the aptitude and ability to maintain productive material handling process which includes daily work schedule planning.
8. Must be able to drive a passenger car and truck and have the ability to pass the Company's fork lift training and operation.
9. Must have a valid driver's license as prescribed by the Company.
