General Summary:


The Behavioral Health Integrated Resources for Children (BIRCh) Project at the University of Massachusetts seeks a Central Massachusetts Regional School-Based Behavioral Health Technical Assistance (SBBH TA) Center Director. The BIRCh Project is a statewide initiative aimed at providing professional development and resources for schools to enhance the coordination of behavioral health supports across school and community agencies. A significant task of this recently state-funded project is to develop a statewide SBBH TA Center. We are currently seeking a Regional TA Center Director to oversee operations and provide coaching and training to district teams in Central Massachusetts.



Examples of Duties:

The Regional TA Center Director for Central Massachusetts will be responsible for:1. Managing the day-to-day operational functions of the Central MA regional hub, which includes administrative and logistical tasks.2. Developing professional learning opportunities and resources for all school districts in the region to access.3. Providing ongoing direct systems consultation and coaching to districts in Central MA for implementing a coordinated, comprehensive school-based behavioral health system. (Districts will be added each year based on their readiness and the TA center's capacity.)4. Building and facilitating partnerships with community-based collaborators in Central MA.5. Supervising Central MA project team members.6. Facilitating Central MA advisory meetings and functions.While the TA Center expands its team and capacity, this role may also involve coaching school districts in the Western or Cape regions of Massachusetts.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:- Master's degree required.- 5+ years experience required.- Candidates must be licensed/certified school mental health professionals or possess similar credentials or expertise.- Eligibility to apply for a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Professional Support Personnel license (School Psychologist, School Counselor, School Social Work/School Adjustment Counselor) is preferred.- Experience in training and organizational consultation is essential.- Priority will be given to candidates with experience in supporting racially and ethnically diverse individuals in schools, homes, and/or agency contexts in Central MA.- Skills necessary for large-scale project management, such as writing competency, professional disposition, organizational skills, communication skills, and the ability to effectively delegate tasks. Supervision Received The Central MA Regional TA Center Director will collaborate with two school psychology faculty members: Melissa Pearrow, Ph.D., the Executive Director of the BIRCh Project and a faculty member at UMass Boston, and Sara Whitcomb, Ph.D., the co-Director and a faculty member at UMass Amherst. Christopher Overtree, Ph.D is the Director of Operations and a research fellow at UMass Amherst. Kathryn Kurtz is the Project Director (statewide) at UMass Boston. Melissa Pearrow and Kathryn Kurtz hold DESE licensures in school psychology. Sara Whitcomb and Christopher Overtree are licensed psychologists.

This is an exempt union position. This is a grant funded position with a current end date of June 25, 2025, subject to renewal contingent on funding and university needs.
