What you will do

PGIM Fixed Income is looking for an experienced portfolio manager to join their Municipal Bond team. The Portfolio Manager will manage client portfolios in-line with desk strategies with a focus on generating trade ideas and executing on them.  The Portfolio Manager will work closely with the credit research team and will have sound knowledge of individual credits and sectors.  The Portfolio Manager will also manage positions across a number of risk parameters and attribution goals. This role will report directly to the Head of Municipal Bonds.   

This position is performed in a hybrid manner with a mix of work performed from our office in Newark, NJ and remotely. Our organization follows a hybrid work structure where employees meet with their team in the office on set days of the week and can work remotely the remainder of the week. Working from the office is encouraged when working on tasks that require a high degree of collaboration and may be required during group specific events (Town Halls, etc.).  

What you can expect


  • Portfolio management responsibilities for PGIM Fixed Income’s municipal funds


  • Monitor and report on market and economic conditions impacting municipal asset class


  • Selection of appropriate investments, and structuring and executing transactions


  • Present investment thesis and positioning to multiple stakeholders, including PGIM clients


  • Work with a variety of internal groups, such Risk, Quantitative Modeling Solutions, Portfolio Analytics, Technology Solutions, and Client Advisory, to improve processes and manage the existing business


  • Establish and maintain professional industry contacts to further develop market knowledge and expertise


What you will bring


  • 8+ years of fixed income industry experience, mostly in municipals, with a track record in managing municipal portfolios


  • Municipal fundamental credit knowledge required


  • Deep understanding of portfolio management analytics and an active management-oriented process


  • Experience in establishing and maintaining relationships with sponsors, banks and other intermediaries


  • Significant knowledge of global capital markets along with strong analytical and investment skills


  • Ability to distill and communicate complex issues clearly and concisely to a variety of decision makers and audiences


  • Ability to work well as part of a team and enjoy a fast paced, high intensity environment


  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA and/or CFA preferred


  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Programming language is a plus.


  • Ability to travel

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The base salary range for this role is from $175,000 to $200,000. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. This role is also eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits including a competitive, discretionary annual cash bonus opportunity along with long term incentive awards. Eligibility to participate in the discretionary annual incentive programs are subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
