Purpose:

As the Indirect Tax Manager specializing in Sales, Use, and Property Tax, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our U.S. indirect tax compliance and strategy. Your role will involve ensuring accurate and timely filings, managing audits, optimizing processes, and staying ahead of legislative changes to minimize tax liabilities.


Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance Oversight:

· Manage the Preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns and personal property tax returns.

· Prepare monthly excel files and journal entries for sales and use tax, ensuring accurate recording of liabilities and payments.

· Identify and manage items exempt from sales tax, including preparation and review of exemption certificates.

· Prepare and review personal property tax valuations and ensure compliance with filing requirements.

Audit Management:

· Lead the management of indirect tax audits, including preparation of audit responses and gathering necessary information.

· Liaise with auditors to resolve audit inquiries and discrepancies effectively and in a timely manner.

· Process Improvement and Efficiency:

· Drive initiatives to develop new processes and enhance efficiencies in the indirect tax compliance process.

· Implement best practices to streamline workflows and improve accuracy in tax filings and reporting.

Legislative Research and Analysis:

· Research, analyze, and model the impacts of legislative changes in indirect taxes, providing recommendations to senior management.

State Notice Resolution and Property Tax Management:

· Lead the resolution of all state notices related to indirect taxes, ensuring compliance with state requirements.

· Ensure accuracy and timely payment of property tax assessments.

Additional Responsibilities:

· Assist in the preparation and filing of business annual reports and license renewals.

· Support miscellaneous projects and initiatives as necessary to contribute to the overall success of the finance team.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of management

· Detail orientated attention and adherence to departmental policies

· Ability to work in an action-oriented environment.

· Ability to complete assignments verbally or written in a timely manner with a

high level of accuracy

· Ability to work autonomously with a sense of assessing risk and when to

escalate issues


Requirements:

· Undergraduate degree in accounting or related field. Master’s degree in accounting a plus

· Five or more years of progressive experience in indirect tax compliance, specifically in sales, use, and property tax.

· Expertise in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, sum-if formulas, and other advanced functions.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong organizational and leadership skills with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
