The ZSOX ESG and Internal Controls Senior Associate will be sharing responsibilities between the implementation of the newly formed ESG internal controls systems and management testing of ICOFR under SOX (Sarbanes Oxley) requirements.
ESG related responsibilities:
Support the roll-out of key internal controls related to ESG/sustainability reporting area for the designated markets/sites under the supervision of ZSOX Manager/PMO.
Co-lead control related trainings for the preparers and owners of ESG controls.
Perform management testing of key internal controls related to ESG (design, operating effectiveness, and remediation).
Perform test of details for selected areas of sustainability reporting.
Create and/or improve ESG controls documentation, including narratives, flowcharts and control descriptions ensuring minimal intervention.
ICOFR/SOX related responsibilities:
Support risk assessment efforts - identify non-financial risks including but not limited to business operations, legal, regulatory, human resources, etc.
Perform management testing of key internal controls under SOX requirements (design, operating effectiveness, and remediation).
Create and/or improve SOX controls documentation, including flowcharts and control descriptions ensuring minimal intervention.
Liaise with the external auditor teams (mainly US Central Team) in the performance of their internal control activities.
General responsibilities:
Provide timely and critical feedback to SOX Management where testing procedures need to be improved. Identify opportunities to streamline controls and make recommendations to improve the underlying processes.
Work with the business process owners (mainly heads of departments, e .g. Finance and Commercial Directors, Plant Controllers) to ensure that all exceptions from control testing are adequately remediated and re-tested.
Partner with SOX Management to determine the appropriate remedial action in response to all external auditor observations regarding control design/control operating effectiveness issues.
Partner with SOX Management on other internal controls related projects and initiatives.
Develop and maintain technical proficiency and current knowledge of professional standards, including accounting, auditing, financial and non-financial reporting requirements.
Support implementation of "base RACM (Risk and Controls Matrix)" for new business acquisitions
Experience, Skills, Knowledge:
Minimum of 4 years "Big 4" experience in the area of assurance or advisory related to non-financial reporting, sustainability, internal controls or audit, will be a plus
Graduate with at min. bachelor's degree (preferably, accounting, finance, business administration, IT or sustainability related).
US GAAP/IFRS frameworks and SOX knowledge would be required.
Practical knowledge of key regulatory developments related to ESG (e. g. SEC rules, CSRD) would be a plus.
Professional qualifications (CPA/ACCA, CIA, CFE, FSA) are a plus.
Business fluency in any other language will be a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral skills.
Detail oriented with the ability to follow through and solve problems.
Excellent command of MS Office.
User experience related to SAP (S4Hana/ECC and GRC), Net Zero Cloud and Workiva, is a plus.
