The Account Services Specialist manages and oversees the movement, reconciliation and exception posting for all check processing while complying and staying abreast of all applicable rules and regulations, as well as researching, preparing, and processing documentation for subpoenas, servicing inactive and dormant accounts and completing the escheatment process. This role is also responsible for servicing consumer loans; including but not limited to adjusting payments, refunding fees, calculating interest, researching, and correcting differences and modifying payments and interest rates.
Responsibilities
Work in partnership with teams across the organization to deliver on projects that improve visibility into the member experience
Maintain confidentiality of member account information
Accurately and efficiently process member financial transactions
Ensure compliance with audit and regulatory procedures and adherence to departmental guidelines
Maintain current knowledge of all Credit Union products and services
Follow established policies and procedures when responding to inquiries and requests
Efficiently handle and process check processing: regular mail payments, express mail (loan payoff processing), bond processing, lockbox correction processing, check adjustments, and ATM/RDC review and reject processing
Conduct detailed research, to include SSA verifications, asset verification, non-subpoena research, check and statement printing, and Partnercare research
Accurately process and document adjustments for deposit accounts, loans, BillMatrix exceptions, and RDC (remote deposit capture)
Complete account maintenance requests received from members or other credit union departments
Complete check issuance for other departments
Processing of returned mail
Printing and mailing member letters and coupon books
Attend training courses related to check processing, adjustments, RDC and fraud
Subpoena processing-research and compile documentation
Assist with department projects and testing
Adhere to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) regulations and all related Credit Union policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
Requires a minimum of 2 years banking/credit union experience or experience in a similar role
Understanding of loan products and interest
Ability to calculate dividends and interest
Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent from four-year college or technical school
Understanding of Reg CC and funds availability policy
Understanding of check adjustment processing and timelines for Federal Reserve and ECCHO
Understanding of UCC regarding checks
Understanding of Right to Financial Privacy and Subpoena processing
Understanding of charge off process (recovery and reversal process)
Understanding of Escheatment timelines and processing
