Job Description:

Maintenance Supervisor- 3rd Shift

The Maintenance Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager, responsible for leading and developing high performance work teams that specialize in the installation, operation and repair of machinery used in production. Also, responsible for managing quality performance, cost parameters, and customer service for internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:


  • Assists and directs the implementation of design modifications, repair of production equipment, mechanical safety installations and maintenance of other mechanical devices within the plant.


  • The individual will oversee production processes, installation of new equipment and repair of mechanically functioning equipment, including boilers, air compressors, refrigeration, wastewater treatment, process equipment and controls.


  • Train maintenance personnel as needed to gain or maintain proficiency.


  • Train contractors on required company policy.


  • Coordinate and schedule any work performed by outside contractors.


  • Works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.


  • Supervises the day-to-day operations of a group of employees to assure a smooth workflow, to include shift debrief and work coordination.


  • Assigns, monitors, and reviews the progress and accuracy of assigned work by utilizing KPI's.


  • Estimates personnel needs and ensures adequate staffing to meet pre-established completion dates and production needs.


  • Handles unusual or difficult inquiries / situations through direct personal action or refers to the appropriate individual.


  • Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, maintaining shift schedules, approves overtime, takes disciplinary actions, as necessary; addresses complaints and resolves issues.


  • Communicate maintenance related information to Maintenance department management and supporting supervisors.


  • Conduct daily shift huddles and communicate information to technicians to ensure the needs of operations is met.


  • Coordinate radio communications with maintenance resources daily.


  • Assist maintenance personnel with work in production areas.


  • Maintain and enforce all safety, quality and production policy.


Hours: 10:45pm-7:00am

This position will be expected to flex core hours as needed; overtime should also be expected. Weekend and holiday hours may be required based on production's needs.

Education / Experience (Required)


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technical discipline plus 2 years of maintenance related experience in a manufacturing setting OR Associate degree plus 4 years of technical maintenance related experience in a manufacturing setting OR High School Diploma and 8 plus years of maintenance related experience in a manufacturing setting reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.


  • Experience in Food Manufacturing or Industrial Maintenance Operations


  • Supervisory, communication, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.


  • Computer and PLC skills.


  • Experience in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems and leading continuous improvement initiatives.


Competencies / Skills (Required):


  • Technical / Analytical Competence - Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions.


  • Skilled in applying broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in the area of mechanical repair and system troubleshooting.


  • Ensures accountability, Holding self and others accountable to meet commitments.


  • Drives engagement, create a climate where people are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.


  • Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.


Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock.
