Orange, CT: $148,803.00 to $186,004.00

Position Description
The Investment Office is a key component of the CEO Office, a team whose core function is to support the CEO by providing operational, financial, strategic planning, investments, and corporate project oversight.
Within the CEO Office, the Investment Office is accountable for the profitability assessment of all major investments and other material expenditures within Avangrid, including the preparation of investment materials for Avangrid and global leadership teams. The team is built on the principles of commercial experience, organizational knowledge, active cross-functional collaboration, flexibility and agility, technical knowledge of the investment process, and the ability to advise senior business leaders and functional business areas on their investments.
The Senior Manager, Investment Office - Financial Structuring is responsible for leading the economic valuation of all tax credit monetization and project finance transactions within Avangrid with the support of the other Investment Office team members. This includes development of standardized quantitative/risk models for transactions, analyzing market conditions, and evaluating all organic and asset acquisition and divestment opportunities to maximize value to Avangrid via optimized financial structuring. This position requires a high level of interaction with various departments across Avangrid, both in the operational business lines (Renewables, Networks) as well as corporate areas (e.g. Treasury, Control, Risk, and Legal). This role entails consensus building at all levels within the organization and the Senior Manager, Investment Office - Financial Structuring will be a key counterpoint for the Avangrid finance teams including the CFO.
Key activities include:
Create and run tax-equity financial models for new financings to maximize corporate value, incorporating complex financing concepts, accounting rules and tax regulations including the preparation of own proformas and review/analysis of proformas from investors in close collaboration with Treasury and Control teams
Support the preparation of structured finance proposals to senior management including financial analyses focused on maximizing corporate value, incorporating complex financing concepts and tax, accounting, and ownership issues.
Analyze tax-monetization or structured debt financing alternatives in support of corporate planning objectives
Support the management of existing tax equity partnerships with analysis to determine progress toward achieving investors' target return
Prepare long-term projections as needed by Treasury to support presentations for ratings agencies or shareholder relations
Ensure that current and forecast financing structure trends are incorporated into economic analysis of future investment opportunities to maximize value to Avangrid from project inception
Monitor structured finance marketplace for new structures that may be of use to Avangrid
Provide independent challenge to financing opportunities from a project, portfolio, and global perspective
Identify and implement process and tool improvements to increase efficiency and work product quality of the Investment Office
Coordinate with other Investment Office Directors and Investment Managers to ensure consistent work products and knowledge sharing
Perform ad hoc transaction, market, and competitor analyses
Support different business and corporate areas for various internal and external related analyses
The Senior Manager, Investment Office - Financial Structuring reports to the Vice President - Investment Office.
Required Qualifications
Experience in the utility/energy industry with more than 5 years in evaluating/modeling structured finance transactions
A deep understanding of the US renewable energy, banking and tax equity markets
Understanding of tax law and regulation, particularly as it relates to statutes and regulations affecting the Renewables business (e.g., tax credits) and of corporate tax planning; ability to incorporate concepts into sophisticated financial models.
Proven experience working with both regulated and non-regulated energy markets and a keen understanding of power system operations and the commercial decision areas of an energy company.
A bachelor's degree in economics, finance, or related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's Degree or MBA preferred.
An ability to build relationships with individuals at all levels of the business
Demonstrated strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines
Advanced Excel skills including proven experience in the development and use of financial models. VBA skills an advantage.
Strong presentation skills, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must
English language proficiency, both written and verbal. Spanish language proficiency/fluency an advantage.
