F5’s Office of the CTO (OCTO) is seeking a Sr Architect with extensive experience building multi-cloud and edge solutions at scale, as well as a strong background in AI/ML technologies. This role will be responsible for leading and contributing to the design, implementation, and automation of secure-by-default solutions for F5 platforms used to deploy global, scalable, and secure applications. This role will: 

  • Work closely with teams to ensure software and product architectures are developed in line with the vision and future direction of company.   
  • Participate on cross-functional design projects, serving as consultant to senior leadership in long-range company planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research/advancement.   
  • Generate and promote new technology theories, concepts, principles, and methodologies  
  • Facilitate presentations, internally and externally, regarding product functionality and technical advancements, influencing product roadmaps and projecting long-term technical direction. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Own the outcomes for multiple projects, leading architectural designs, solutions, development, and implementation across products, services, projects, and systems. Work cross functionally to drive common architectural decisions. 
  • Utilize breadth and depth of domain knowledge to develop new approaches to products, systems, services, and/or technologies. 
  • Take ambiguous and deep technical problems and make them easily managed, governed, repeatable, and consumable. 
  • Provide technical leadership by developing roadmaps, establishing architectural goals, and coordinating resources and priorities. 
  • Drive projects and the workflow of teams, serving as a mentor to engineers at all levels. 
  • Locate and direct solutions for critical challenges involving software and hardware interfaces.  

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A recognized expert in multiple technology domains, known as a subject matter expert based on personal contributions and technical leadership.
  • Consistently exhibits the ability to quickly grasp, evaluate, and integrate new ideas and technologies to foster innovation.
  • Strong track record of growing and influencing others, working with all levels of leadership, and fostering engagement across teams.
  • 10+ years of relevant, work-related experience as a software architect, including experience in AI, including designing and implementing AI/ML models, applying AI/ML technologies to real-world problems, and integrating AI/ML solutions within large-scale systems. 
  • Deep understanding of patterns and distributed architecture, containers, orchestration technologies, data (storage, design and modeling), and multi-cloud networking.  
  • Extensive knowledge of the software development process and corresponding technologies; experience designing and implementing solutions at scale.  
  • Excellent understanding of design patterns and architectural styles; broad understanding of coding and programming languages. 
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written; the ability to communicate deeply technical information in way that can be easily understood by a non-technical audience.

The annual U.S. base pay range for this position is: $261,633.00 - $392,449.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
