Pay Range:[$23] /hr on w2

Weekly Schedule: 40 hours + overtime as needed; Required weekend work 2 times per month

Job Description: We are seeking a motivated Fermentation Lab Technician to join our R&D team. This entry-level position involves primarily lab work with a focus on fermentation processes. You will begin with basic tasks such as washing glassware and preparing lab assemblies, progressing to more complex responsibilities under training. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, or related fields, with up to 5 years of experience. This role offers the opportunity to develop skills in handling fermenters, performing sterile techniques, and conducting lab analyses.



Specific Technical Responsibilities:



  • Operate fermenters including sterilization, repair, inoculation, cell growth, harvest, and cleaning

  • Maintain sterile techniques during shake flask inoculation and sampling

  • Conduct fermenter sampling, monitoring, and off-line sample analysis using equipment such as viscometers, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and pH meters

  • Safely operate autoclaves and handle acids/bases

  • Perform preventive maintenance on lab equipment to ensure accurate operation


Performance Expectations:



  • Manage and schedule own tasks in alignment with team goals

  • Execute research tasks following standard operating procedures

  • Adapt procedures to meet experimental objectives under guidance

  • Recognize and address equipment malfunctions, conduct routine maintenance

  • Document work accurately and contribute to experimental reports

  • Assist in laboratory supply management and cost reduction initiatives

  • Contribute to process improvements and team workload management


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in relevant field preferred

  • Strong interest and background in Biology, Chemistry, or related sciences

  • Some lab experience preferred; entry-level candidates welcome

  • Familiarity with hand tools and equipment repair a plus

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Willingness to work weekends and flexible hours as required


Additional Information:



  • Training will be provided; proficiency expected within 2 weeks

  • Potential for role extension beyond 1 year; not a seasonal position
