Overview

As a member of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Department of Medicine you will report to the Interim Division Head (Dr. Raghav Wusirika) and will be expected to contribute in each of the following areas:

Clinical: You will work as a Transplant Nephrologist within the Division. You will be expected to hold between three to five clinics per week that may include offsite locations, virtual sessions, and/or community outreach clinics; kidney biopsy sessions, and other clinic duties as needed. You will be expected to take your fair share of call that includes shared call with the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS), as assigned, with other faculty on nights, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, you will be expected to obtain and maintain a WOC appointment through Hospital and Specialty Care Division at VAPORHCS with the initial role and expectations that are consistent with current faculty.

Education: This position participates in the division’s teaching activities, including divisional conferences, student and fellow didactics and on OHSU committees as expected and approved by the Division and Department, including undergraduate medical education programs and School of Medicine graduate programs. Additionally, you may be asked to assist with the AST Kidney Transplant Fellow program.

Administration: Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on department needs and your areas of expertise and interest, including opportunities to participate in departmental management and to serve on institutional committees.

Research: Research duties are at the discretion of Division and Department leadership. The incumbent is not required to secure external independent research funding; however, it is highly encouraged to pursue clinical research opportunities and you may be asked to participate in ongoing and future clinical trials within the Division. Additionally, should you have interest and applicable credentials; there is the opportunity to train and work as one of the Co-Directors for Laboratory of Immunogenetics and Transplantation.



Responsibilities

  • MD (or foreign equivalent), Board-eligible or Board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology,
  • Successful completion of an AST Accredited Transplant Nephrology Fellowship or have equivalent experience
  • Obtain medical staff privileges at OHSU and VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) at the time of start date,
  • Unrestricted Oregon Medical Board license,
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license associated with Oregon
