General Summary

Perform administrative and/or fiscal activities of moderate complexity with moderate authority to make commitments on behalf of a designated area or department., Work is performed in a typical office environment.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile detailed budgets and prepare recommendations for corrective action.
  • Review and recommend expenditures for materials, equipment, support staff, and travel.
  • Assist in preparing contract budgets, grant applications, proposals, status reports, and financial statements.
  • Prepare monthly projections for Department management of Department operations and associated costs.
  • Participate in the preparation of unit budget projections and plans, including staffing requirements.
  • Participate in the resolution of operating problems and employee complaints.
  • Train and evaluate the performance of assigned support staff.
  • Supervise the collection and recording of data and maintain records.
  • Coordinate the handling of routine personnel actions.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and interpretation of policy and procedures.
  • Respond to inquiries and complaints received from faculty, staff, students, outside agencies, and the public, which require interpretation of policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the use of facilities, services, and equipment.
  • Perform related Departmental duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

An Associate's degree in Business Administration, Office Technology, or a related field is required (Four years' administrative/office management experience is equivalent to an Associate's degree).

Two years of administrative/office management experience is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

If this position works directly with grant-funded projects, prior experience with grant writing and budgeting may be required.

Additional qualifications specific to the area of assignment may be desirable.
