General Summary

Provide technical support for the Banner automated systems and 3rd party business systems, coordinate business systems security and batch processing, administer Banner and 3rd party business systems, maintain data structures, and provide reports and system analysis as requested for assigned department(s).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain a calendar of all activities to coordinate production runs and reports for the Banner and 3rd party business systems.
  • Advise internal and external stake holders about processes related to customer computer based technology.
  • Assist with the ongoing review, maintenance, and revision of office policy and procedure manuals.
  • Confer with employees at all levels of the organization to gain knowledge of work situations requiring preventive, remedial, and/or other training related sessions.
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and administering all staff training functions and programs.
  • Represent Department on system related committees.
  • Coordinate system upgrades and modification for assigned department(s).
  • Recommend modifications or improvements in existing systems and procedures to improve efficiency for assigned department(s).
  • Assist the management team in the evaluation and implementation of new systems and processes.
  • Coordinate report requests through the Banner and 3rd party systems, reconcile and correct input errors, and maintain data files for assigned department(s).
  • Provide ad-hoc queries and reports as required.
  • Analyze, design, develop, or modify existing reports to comply with report requests and specifications.
  • Coordinate preparation of request for reports both internal and external within appropriate timelines for assigned department(s).
  • Provide technical assistance for information systems within assigned department(s).
  • Research and analyze technical system problems and provide recommendations for resolution.
  • Serve as liaison to IT to assist with the department technology needs.
  • Adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Perform related departmental duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of computer systems, program development, business administration principles, and report writing tools with strong skills in written and interpersonal communications, organization and problem solving, typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Computer Science, or the equivalent combination of education and experience, is necessary.

Two years of experience in online data systems is necessary.

Minimum two years of demonstrated technical experience working with computer systems, databases, and report writing tools such as MS Access, Excel, or Crystal is required.

Effective conflict management skills are required (e.g. defuse emotionally charged situations, clearly identify issues, clearly communicate procedures for resolving issues, working with the customer to develop a resolution acceptable to both the work unit and Information Technology departments).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Knowledge of specific software applications utilized in the department(s) area is required.

Knowledge of the University's Red Flags Rule and Identify Theft Prevention Policy and Procedure.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of the 3rd party software applications, SunGard Banner ERP system used to process transactions, and imaging systems is desirable.
