SUMMARY & SCOPE:

As a member of the Samuel Management Team, work effectively with operations staff as well as support staff to meet customer expectations and ensure successful production operations. Organize and direct supervisors, warehouse, shipping, receiving and maintenance staff. Plan, organize, and oversee the daily activities related to production and operations. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Oversee daily operations with a significant value placed on strategic long-term vision to ensure continued success for the facility. 

  • Evaluate process and procedures to ensure we have the best practices in place, and we are adhering to them. 

  • Ensure all employees are adhering to corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines. 

  • Act Strategically: Develop priorities with the right balance of short and long-term plans. 

  • Analyze data and metrics to identify key issues and relationships relevant to achieving long range goals and vision. 

  • Identify areas of improvement and develop A3 projects for continued process improvements. 

  • PO Management, vendor relations, plant procurement and planning.

  • Commit to a course of action to accomplish goals after developing alternatives based on logical assumptions, facts, available resources, constraints, and organizational values. 

  • Effectively assembles and manages staff: Actively works to recruit, hire, and retain high performers, creates a challenging and rewarding work environment. 

  • Drive for results holds self and other accountable for measurable and cost-effective results. Successfully able to organize and execute on goals and expectations. 

  • Promote and demonstrate a safe work environment complying with local, state, and federal OSHA/EPA regulations. 

  • Responsible for expense management and financial performance of plant operations. 

  • Understand the organizations financial process to prepare, justify and administer the annual operating plan. 

  • Fleet and logistics management. 

  • Management of production uptime for maximum equipment utilization. 

  • Management of inventory and the quality and accuracy through cycle counting audits and inspections. 

  • Maximize raw material usage to minimize scrap, damage, errors, and waste. 

  • Develop and maintain internal and external customers by providing best in class customer services through on time delivery, on schedule order fulfillment rate, quality, and customer order expectations. 

  • Fixed Asset Management including but not limited to proper use, operation, and maintenance. 

  • Annual capital budget forecasting and management for warehouse and trucking. 

  • Ensure employee development and positive employee relations while displaying a commitment to lead. 

  • Effectively communicate with others to provide solutions and promote teamwork amongst business units i.e., sales, purchasing, HR, logistics, credit, Corp operations etc. 

  • Oversee capital projects in your service center

  • All other duties as assigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:


  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, processes, and quality system.

  • 5+ years’ experience in managing a service center, distribution, and manufacturing preferred. 

  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, processes, and quality system.

  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.

  • Verify the implementation of solutions.

  • Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.

  • Required knowledge of accepted safety, ISO and OSHA regulations, standards, procedures and guidelines.

  • Good / strong leadership skills; Communication skills; People skills.

  • Experience with metals preferred. 

  • Lean and or Six Sigma Background Ideal

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:


  • Desk top computer, computer software (Word, Excel, Power Point, AS400 Sales), phone, calculator, company documentation, e-mail, steel/Aluminum/Stainless Coil weight and length calculator, knowledge of crane and forklift operation.

  • Must have general knowledge of all machinery in plant.

  • Computer skills (Word, Excel).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.

  • Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs (22.7kg) maximum occasionally with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs (11.3kg).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


  • Work is primarily conducted in an industrial environment, which may involve exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

  • Adherence to strict safety protocols and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential to minimize risks and ensure a safe work environment.

  • 5% travel with occasional overnight travel mostly within assigned region.
