Job Summary

The Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) functions independently within parameters delineated by their supervising physician. Emergency Medicine PA will assess, diagnose, and manage episodic illnesses, injuries and acute exacerbations of chronic diseases. Responsibilities include performing history and physical examination; ordering and interpreting radiological and laboratory test results; treating minor injuries; prescribing medications; documenting patient care services within EMR and departmental records; and performing procedures within scope of practice and demonstrating through competency.

Job Specific Duties

• Performs comprehensive and problem focused history and physical examinations.


• Orders appropriate laboratory tests, radiographical studies, and consultations.


• Performs procedures as demonstrated through competency and identified in delineation of privileges.


• Participates in performance improvement activities, quality initiatives and research.


• Initiates emergency resuscitation and stabilization as necessary.


• Works effectively with physicians and other health professionals as a member or leader of a health care team or other professional group.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Physician Assistant Licensure issued by the State of Florida


• Certification by The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCPAA)


• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS - must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.


• American Heart Association (AHA) PALS - must maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.


• Level II Background Check
