Position Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing and managing the dispatch/transportation process working with the logistics staff and company locations to assure all deliveries are done accurately and timely. This position will also be responsible for reviewing current transportation procedures and analyzing freight costs.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Maintain and review master dispatch/delivery schedule
Supervise and evaluate all dispatch operations, assigned personnel and company drivers
Hire and discipline company drivers
Perform daily logistics planning for all locations
Ensure drivers hours are within DOT regulations
Ensure adequate staffing and scheduling of dispatchers and drivers
Ensure select carriers are responding to the daily customer service requirements
Oversee processing of pick lists and ship tickets
Communicate with sales force and customers on delivery changes or challenges
Manage and analyze the cost of transportation expenses
Implement company policy programs and understand Government rules and regulations
Coordinate multiple destination loads in a timely manner
Oversee load planning process working with our transportation management system
Investigate billing/ticketing issues for Accounting department
Keep current with changes in fuel surcharges
Coordinate repairs and safety issues with fleet manager
Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Excellent computer skills and proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., and knowledge of current operating systems and office suites

Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
Management and/or supervisory training
A solid understanding of industry regulations
2+ years' experience in customer service or dispatch operations
Strong negotiation skills, analytical and problem solving ability
Good time management skills and the ability to multi-task
Basic knowledge of accounting, purchasing, sales, marketing, or related field
Strong organizational, communication and people skills
Language Skills
Able to effectively communicate in verbal and written form to employees, management, executives, and clients
Excellent phone etiquette, speaking voice and professional appearance
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
Reasoning Ability
Able to identify, define and resolve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Able to interpret an extensive variety of instructions in mathematical, written, or oral form

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
Should be comfortable using Windows Operating system. Microsoft Office apps such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
