Your impact as a Medical Laboratory Technician, is vital. The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in Transfusion Services is responsible for performing a variety of laboratory procedures, including pre-transfusion testing, blood typing, antibody screening, crossmatching, and inventory management of blood products. This role requires precision, critical thinking, and a strong commitment to quality and patient safety.

What to Expect?

Schedule: EVE 2:45PM -11:15PM (works e/o W/e) Eve and W/E shift differentials

Training: 6 weeks Days (7:00 am- 3:30PM) Monday -Friday

• Perform blood bank testing including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screens, and compatibility testing.


• Issue and manage blood components and derivatives for transfusion.


• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.


• Accurately document and verify all test results and transactions in the laboratory information system (LIS).


• Follow all regulatory, accreditation, and quality control standards (e.g., AABB, FDA, CAP, CLIA, OSHA).


• Participate in proficiency testing and continuing education activities.


• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to support patient care.


• Maintain inventory of blood products, reagents, and supplies.


• Respond promptly to emergency and STAT requests.

Requirements

• Associate degree in Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Technology.


• ASCP MLT certification or must receive within 6 months of hire.


• One year lab experience required or MLT ASCP certification in lieu of experience.
