Junior Staff Accountant

ICA Languages Services is actively seeking a Junior Staff Accountant. This is a salaried, part-time (30 hours weekly), in-person position (in our office in Arlington, VA), with benefits such as health, dental, vision, paid holidays, and paid time off. The Junior Staff Accountant reporting to our Controller performs a variety of duties such as account reconciliation, managing accounts payable, maintaining the general ledger, and providing ad hoc support as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Account Payables

• Process vendor invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to entry into the ERP system and payment


• Record and verify all expense reports, ensure proper compliance with company policies and contract requirements


• Maintain vendor administration including new vendor set up, maintenance, and vendor updates


• Process AP reconciliations, including bank and credit card reconciliations.


• Maintain AP filing system by making AP folders and labels


• Monitor and respond to any account payables questions submitted to account payables email account

Timesheet/Payroll

• Collect timesheets and material log for contract specific monthly billing


• Monitor and respond to any timesheet questions submitted to timesheet email account


• Calculate and post monthly PTO/Sick accruals

Billings

• Prepare and submit contract specific invoice twice a month


• Review contract specific monthly receipts to be included with monthly invoice


• Enter contract specific billing into WAWF once approved

General

• Record cash receipts daily in general ledger


• Enter monthly copier allocation


• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field


• This is an entry level role. It requires 0-3 years of Accounting experience. A High School Diploma and an additional 4 years of directly relevant government accounting experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.


• Experience with the accounting software Unanet preferred


• Must have a strong understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)


• Requires familiarity with Bank and Credit Card reconciliations


• Requires an understanding of accounting practices and procedures, project-based accounting under federal contracts, financial statements, and the full accounting cycle


• Must have an understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)


• Be reliable, curious and a quick learner


• Exercise your strong attention to detail

• Must be able to work in an office environment
