Job Summary

As the Sr IT Infrastructure Operations Administrator at Murphy Oil Corporation, you'll be at the forefront of our IT infrastructure, managing both on-premises and cloud-based systems. This role is perfect for a dynamic individual with a blend of technical expertise and a passion for innovation. You'll ensure our systems are secure, scalable, and ready for the future.

We're looking for a multi-talented Azure Cloud Engineer with extensive experience in designing, automating, and maintaining cloud infrastructures. This role will be filled with someone that is proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep and ARM templates, and highly skilled in scripting with PowerShell and Python to streamline deployments, upgrades, and maintenance. This role will collaborate with security and architecture teams to drive automation and operational efficiency across diverse, multi-platform environments.

This role will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities


  • Oversee the deployment and daily operations of robust compute and storage platforms to support business applications and operations.
  • Drive automation and orchestration to streamline deployment and maintenance processes.
  • Establish and enforce endpoint standards for Windows and Linux environments, ensuring security, performance, and user experience.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive infrastructure roadmap that aligns with organizational goals
  • Lead efforts to strengthen identity management systems, including MS Active Directory and Azure Entra solutions.
  • Develop and enforce identity governance policies that focus on least privilege access, reducing identity risk across environments.
  • Implement and maintain secure access controls, ensuring compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee hybrid cloud infrastructure in Azure, focusing on performance, cost optimization, and scalability.
  • Manage enterprise collaboration platforms to support productivity and connectivity.
  • Oversee platform integration and drive adoption of collaboration tools across teams.
  • Champion the implementation of automation tools and frameworks to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual efforts.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to implement best practices.
  • Develop and maintain monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to ensure system uptime and reliability. Provide input to the SLA development process and ensure SLA's are met.
  • Proactively identify and resolve infrastructure bottlenecks and issues.

Qualifications/Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 10 years' of IT experience, preferably with 3 or more years of experience as a System Administrator including development and administration of Azure Cloud.
  • Understanding of product management, agile principles and development methodologies. Be able to support agile teams.
  • Strong experience with managing VM Ware virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Strong identity management experience, including MS Active Directory, Azure Entra and advanced access control practices.
  • Proficiency in endpoint management across Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Hands-on experience managing and developing in the Azure cloud platform using cloud-native technologies.
  • Hands On experience automation tools and frameworks to streamline infrastructure management
  • This position is part of an On-Call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices, including version control systems like Git. Experience in creating and managing deployment pipelines for use with IaC deployments.
  • Prior experience with Nasuni and Rubrik toolsets.
  • Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, ISO 27001).
  • Compute, Storage, or Sysadmin Certifications:

    • CompTIA Server+, Microsoft MTA/MCSA, VMware VCP.
  • Cloud Certifications:

    • Developing Solutions for Microsoft Azure (AZ-204)
    • Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104)

The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
