The Food Manufacturing Fixed Assets Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks with a focus on ensuring effective maintenance of an organization's fixed assets and depreciation schedules and preparing dairy purchase calculations and creating payment requests for dairy suppliers.
Record fixed assets by creating and supervising a system of procedures, forms, and controls.
Track, compile, and record project costs in fixed asset accounts; close out the accounts at the completion of the projects.
Track Company's fixed asset spending in relation to its capital budget, as well as management authorizations.
Perform reconciliation of fixed asset subsidiary ledger balance with summary-level account in the general ledger
Perform inventory counts of fixed assets physically at plant locations.
Perform depreciation calculation for all fixed assets.
Create fixed asset related audit schedules and support annual audit.
Support property tax returns process.
Support development and implementation of accounting policies affecting fixed assets.
Prepare dairy purchase calculations and create payment requests for dairy suppliers.
Balance dairy purchase quantities and component calculations with suppliers to ensure proper payment.
Maintain and update dairy supplier payment information in internal financial systems and online data source for outsourced component.
Review and reconcile general ledger activity for dairy payments and related accounts payable activity.
Compile various monthly closing reports for management's review in preparation for producer payment processes.
Assist with Ad-Hoc Projects.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree in accounting or emphasis in accounting/finance (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Minimum 2 years of accounting experience.
Knowledge of the dairy industry, state and federal order rules, or related is a plus.
COMPETENCIES:
Knowledge of GAAP and balance sheet and general ledger internal controls.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Must be able to work independently and efficiently under strict deadlines.
