Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Food Manufacturing Fixed Assets Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks with a focus on ensuring effective maintenance of an organization's fixed assets and depreciation schedules and preparing dairy purchase calculations and creating payment requests for dairy suppliers.

• Record fixed assets by creating and supervising a system of procedures, forms, and controls.


• Track, compile, and record project costs in fixed asset accounts; close out the accounts at the completion of the projects.


• Track Company's fixed asset spending in relation to its capital budget, as well as management authorizations.


• Perform reconciliation of fixed asset subsidiary ledger balance with summary-level account in the general ledger

• Perform inventory counts of fixed assets physically at plant locations.

• Perform depreciation calculation for all fixed assets.


• Create fixed asset related audit schedules and support annual audit.


• Support property tax returns process.


• Support development and implementation of accounting policies affecting fixed assets.


• Prepare dairy purchase calculations and create payment requests for dairy suppliers.


• Balance dairy purchase quantities and component calculations with suppliers to ensure proper payment.


• Maintain and update dairy supplier payment information in internal financial systems and online data source for outsourced component.


• Review and reconcile general ledger activity for dairy payments and related accounts payable activity.


• Compile various monthly closing reports for management's review in preparation for producer payment processes.


• Assist with Ad-Hoc Projects.

• Undergraduate degree in accounting or emphasis in accounting/finance (or equivalent combination of education and experience).


• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience.


• Knowledge of the dairy industry, state and federal order rules, or related is a plus.

• Knowledge of GAAP and balance sheet and general ledger internal controls.


• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.


• Must be able to work independently and efficiently under strict deadlines.


• Self-motivated with initiative to enhance job functions and solve problems.
