Schedule: Day/Evening/Night



*Note: Orientation is full time*



SUMMARY:



The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team.



OUR UNIT:



W3 is a 29 bed, 28 day, inpatient addiction treatment unit. We offer treatment for all substance use disorders. Treatment is multi-faceted. It includes teaching patients about the disease of addiction, recognizing triggers for use, how to begin to use alternate methods of coping, and how to navigate early recovery and avoid recurrence. Patients will attend both group and individual therapy, including methods from Dialectical Behavior Therapy ("DBT") and Cognitive Behavior Therapy ("CBT"). They are introduced to meditation, anger management, and stress management. Teaching is done about medical aspects of addiction, recovery, and healthy living habits. Patients participate in 12 Step meetings while on our unit, and have meetings with an individual counselor at least once per week. We also offer additional individual counseling as needed for grief and loss. We offer medical support and treatment as well, and, although we are not a dedicated "MICA" (Mentally ill, Chemically Abusing) unit, we sometimes accept patients who do have co-occurring mental health issues, depending on their level of need for mental health stabilization.



RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Patient Care & Service - Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; perform various treatment procedures; provide physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervise assigned team members.
  
  


• Medication Administration & Reporting - Administer medication and give/receive relevant reports, both written and verbal from/to appropriate staff as per departmental protocols.
  
  


• Documentation - Ensure concise, pertinent and complete documentation using computerized medical record process.
  
  


• Preparation - Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked.
  
  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 
  Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or equivalent required.
  
  
  


• 
  Current licensure in State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
  
  
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 
  Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills highly desired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.



PAY RANGE: $27.00 - $33.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
