Job Description:

JOB GOAL:
Lead in partnership with school staff, students, and families to create conditions that enable
effective instruction, family and community partnerships, and social justice and equity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Create conditions where staff, students and families can experience a sense of belonging
in the school environment.
2. Create a school culture that promotes the ongoing improvement of teaching and learning
for students and staff.
3. Create school systems that provide for physical, social, emotional, and intellectual safety
including integration of restorative practices.
4. Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a data-driven plan for increasing
student achievement, including the use of multiple student data elements.
5. Assist instructional staff with alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with
state and local district learning goals.
6. Monitor, assist, and evaluate effective instruction and assessment practices.
7. Manage both human and fiscal resources to support student achievement and legal
responsibilities.
8. Partner with families and communities to mitigate barriers and promote conditions for
learning.
9. Demonstrate commitment to closing opportunity and achievement gaps.
10. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Two years as a school principal or assistant principal preferred.
2. Current Washington principal credential.
3. Experience working in a diverse learning environment and demonstrated experience in
advancing antiracism work.
4. Master’s degree in education with an emphasis in educational administration or related
field.
5. Demonstrated skills as an instructional leader.
6. At least five years successful experience as a secondary certificated teacher or related
service provider.
7. Experience leading district wide programs such as Dual Language, Highly Capable,
Special Education, and categorical funding programs preferred.
8. Sound understanding of Standards Based Instruction, Universal Design for Learning,
and Culturally Responsive Education.
9. Biliterate in Spanish preferred.
