Hours Per Week: Full Time (Regularly work over 40 hours)
Schedule: 12-hour variable shifts; weekends and holidays
SUMMARY:
Paramedics are highly trained professionals who provide emergency medical care such as CPR, wound management, and patient assessment. They make critical treatment decisions based on the information available at the scene to deliver timely and effective care. Working alongside other healthcare professionals, including nurses, they respond to emergencies and support medical facilities as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respond to 911 calls and interfacility transport requests, providing care in accordance with NYS Collaborative Protocols or SLH Interfacility Transport Guidelines, and manage patient care through to handoff.
Accurately document all patient encounters in a timely manner.
Operate and utilize medical technology and equipment to stabilize or treat patients, including monitors, defibrillators, IVs, and medications.
Collaborate effectively with other responders and healthcare professionals, including police, fire personnel, and physicians.
Maintain vehicle and equipment readiness, and operate SLH EMS vehicles safely and in accordance with policy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Clean and Active NYS Driver's License
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Credentialed in the NCEMS System
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or equivalent
Three years' experience in 911 and interfacility transport
Experience with critical care transports
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
PAY RANGE: $22.38 - $29.06
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
