Job Summary
The Staff Subsea Engineer will be responsible to provide project, engineering and technical support for the integrity management for subsea wells and associated subsea infrastructure in the Gulf of Mexico. This will include, but not limited to, production trees, flowlines, risers, and umbilical.
The Staff Subsea Engineer will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remotely.
Responsibilities
Manage the Subsea Asset Integrity Management System for existing Operated Assets
Interface with internal regulatory team and regulatory bodies to plan and enable cost effect decommissioning and abandonment of end-of-life subsea assets
Provide technical leadership on troubleshooting subsea issues to the key stakeholders, including direct interface with the offshore operations teams
Oversight and management of subsea original equipment manufacturer (OEM) product delivery
Oversight and management of subsea installation and construction contractors
Interface with facility operations and production teams for the timely resolution of potential subsea issues
Perform hazard evaluations, management of change, emergency response, compliance and minimize potential operating downtime
Assist in developing operating and maintenance strategies to ensure the safety of your colleagues, safety to the environment, technical integrity, and the effective performance of the subsea assets
Identify hazards, best practices, evaluate state of the art equipment and practices, and incorporates sound engineering practices for the design and construction of facilities
Resolve technical issues, support multi-discipline projects, and propose new process improvements or modifications to maintain Murphy's safety culture
Ensure that all subsea engineering and delivery activities comply with the Company/Industry standards and meet government regulations
Manage Contractors who provide engineering services and equipment to the Company
Manage relationship with vendors to ensure provision of deliverables, services and professional expertise in due time
Participate as required in Project HAZOP / HAZID / Design & Constructability Reviews.
Assist in preparing subsea intervention procedures and developing subsea operation strategies
Understand and support operations and capital projects from a technical perspective
Be part of a team that delivers safe & quality completion of OPEX and CAPEX projects
Be part of a team that develops recommendations that increase the value of the asset
Participate / support engineering standards and procedures development
Develop required AFE's along with the economics and justification
Track schedule and costs associated work
Involved in project activities with multiple entities including Marketing, Operations, Land, Legal, and Accounting along with external entities such as contractors, equipment providers, government agencies, regulatory bodies, and other producers
Work within the engineering teams to execute operating plans and to develop assets in a cost-effective manner
Work within and support a multi-disciplined team, providing performance analysis, cost estimates, and other requested studies on a timely basis, often under a dynamic fast paced environment, frequently under pressure, and must be capable of handling multiple tasks.
Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
Work within and contribute to HSE leadership directives
Represent Company and actively participate at industry events and conferences, including a time-to-time expectation to produce papers and presentations
Willing to attend and be able to pass HUET (Helicopter Underwater Egress Training)
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or other technical engineering degree
Minimum 12 years' experience in offshore development and operations experience in the oil and gas industry with experience in integrity management, offshore installation and operation of subsea equipment, with a minimum of 10 years related to deep water projects
Experience with subsea facilities operations, well intervention, and subsea systems
Experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting issues in subsea systems
Professional and safety focused mentality
Professional and astute communication and interfacing skills based on successful track record of working in a multi-disciplined teams and organizations
Experience with managing engineering contractors & contracts
Extensive knowledge of MOCs, HAZOPs and PSSR/commissioning process
Possesses a collaborative nature and actively participates in teams; actively seek continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices and procedures
Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, AutoCAD
Requires working offshore (either on production hosts or construction vessels) for extended periods
Travel to worksite and offshore will be required
Knowledge of subsea survey and metrology techniques
Knowledge of Coast Guard and Regulatory requirements for offshore operations
Knowledge of emergency management
Familiarity with GOA industry practices, codes, standards and regulations related to the offshore and subsea profession
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Master's degree in engineering or other technical degree
Experience working within an integrated oil and gas operator with a proven participation in the delivery of subsea developments, asset integrity management, decommissioning and operational support
