Position Overview
The Electronic Technician (Navaids) applies a working knowledge of computer and navigation skills to maintain and operate shipboard systems. The Electronic Technician (Navaids) will also be required to interact with shipyard personnel, port engineering staff, and equipment vendors.
Responsibilities
Maintain ship navigation, assist with shipboard communication, automation control, CCTV and shipboard safety systems
Must be available for worldwide travel. Sea going experience is beneficial.
A degree in Electronics Technology/Computer Science, equivalent military training, or 4 years of experience with shipboard electronics is preferred.
Solid understanding of the technical principles of electronic equipment functional operation and maintenance. - Maintain ship networks and computer systems following established Cyber Security guidelines and perform ISSO duties. - Supervising shipyard work during maintenance periods.
Able to function in a team setting.
Able to communicate with team and supervisor effectively.
Deployment at sea for extended periods up to 2 months at any one time.
Inventory control of all equipment
Assist shipboard ET in maintenance of radars, Dynamic Positioning System, and GPS systems.
Maintain and upgrade all computer and electronic systems under the direction of ET Supervisor
Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 Years of relevant experience preferred
Experience Administering computers in network environment
Security+ Certification is preferred and will be required after being hired
GROL certification is preferred and will be required after being hired
Two year Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent military training
Five or more years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining electronic equipment
Experience operating and maintaining shipboard navigation systems is preferred
Experience operating and maintaining undersea bathymetry systems is preferred
Experience processing bathymetry data using CARIS software tools is preferred
Must be able to pass physical exam and lift 50 lbs required for at sea deployment
Must be able to obtain a security clearance from the US Department of Defense.
Must be able to read and understand electronic schematics
Must work well in a team environment as well as independent.
Understanding of RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 communication protocols is preferred.
Working Conditions: This position is considered OFFSHORE which is characterized as follows.
Outdoors and indoors, day and night, as well as over/near water
Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment
Humidity is frequently above 90%
Noise is over 85 decibels
