Accounting Specialist | $20.26 to $25.33 Per Hour | Depending on Experience
Accounting Specialist Job Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
Daily invoice processing to include data entry, document matching and check distribution.
Administer the company's travel report processing and document verification according to company policy, including per diems and travel advances.
Communicate with UMOS staff regarding travel reporting, including but not limited to providing stellar customer service both internally and externally, guiding employees through issues and providing status updates.
Reconcile vendor statements monthly
Full-cycle check processing
Research and troubleshoot invoice issues
Accounting Operations
Perform monthly GL reconciliations and resolutions.
Post GL journal entries related to GL reconciliations and in support of PR/AP Manager.
Provide reconciliation support for company credit card statements.
Coordinate annual employee signature authorization forms and maintain electronic file.
Assist with assigned bank deposit and other bank verification processing.
Assist department with gathering documents and financial schedule required for grantor monitoring and UMOS' annual audit.
Assist with duties needed in monthly financial close.
Maintain UMOS' financial records, storage and filing in accordance with its record retention policies and procedures.
Perform additional accounting or administrative tasks as may be required, often on short notice by the accounting staff, Deputy CFO or CFO.
Process supply orders for the department.
Attend meetings, conferences and workshops as assigned.
As needed, other duties as assigned as appropriate to and correlated with position and responsibilities.
Assist with other department projects and audit requests
Accounting Specialist Job Qualifications:
Minimum of a High School Diploma (or equivalent) PLUS two years of post-secondary education, in a relevant field. Note: Additional years of work experience in a relevant field can be substituted for education.
Working knowledge of accounting software. Sage Intacct preferred but not required.
Intermediate skill level using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams. This includes having above average capabilities within Microsoft Excel using VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Formulas, etc.
Strong organizational, time management, prioritization skills with a professional work ethic.
Detailed oriented and accurate with an ability to multi-task.
Must have the ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
Team player, sound judgment and willingness to take on additional duties.
Physical Demands:
Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and bend.
Occasionally required to lift and /or move up to 20 lbs.
Frequently exposed to moderate temperature generally encountered in a controlled temperature environment.
Noise level in this work is usually semi-moderate.
Be able to scan documents and encrypt documents as necessary
Use first aid equipment, fire extinguisher.
