Job Description:

It is the belief of the faculty of the Nursing Department at North-West College  that each member should have defined responsibilities and that the Nursing Department accepts the responsibility of supporting its members in the achievement of both departmental and individual professional goals.

All faculty and staff must follow the Department of Nursing Faculty Handbook of Glendale Career College and the College Handbook.

The Nursing Education Resource Specialist assists students in developing a sense of belonging, academic skills, and life skills to maximize their academic success, professional development, educational progression, and completion of the ADN program with the goal of increasing student retention, on-time graduation, and the number of entry-level associate degree nurses in the local health care community.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides and participates in delivering education navigation and support.

  • Create and deliver structured classes that focus on time management, financial aid, writing discussion board responses, Moodle, college transition, campus resources, academic policies and procedures, study skills, test taking skills, note taking skills, reading skills, learning styles, stress management, and life skills management.

  • Collaborate with Admissions, the Registrar, and Financial Aid to coordinate student service in an effort to develop a positive sense of belonging, academic skills, and life skills in enrolled students.

  • Schedule and hold office hours to ensure availability for assistance with assignments, course progression, or other issues being experienced by the individual student.

  • Facilitate student compliance with college and nursing department policies and procedures.

  • Act as a liaison between student and faculty.

  • Assist faculty in identifying high risk students and implement appropriate interventions as needed.


  • Master's degree or higher

  • Possess broad "generalist" skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of academic and personality concerns.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Knowledge of the Moodle Learning Management System Platform.

  • Proficient computer skills, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
