Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the safety and overall functionality of college buildings, grounds, and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced campus environment.

Job Duties

* Responds to and completes work orders for various maintenance projects and requests in a timely manner.

* Performs basic plumbing maintenance, including repairing faucets, unclogging drain lines, rebuilding and replacing plumbing fixtures.

* Performs electrical repairs, including replacing light fixtures, lightbulbs and electrical switches and receptacles.

* Drywall repairs, painting, replacing ceiling tiles as well as carpet and floor tiles.

* Perform routine and preventative maintenance and to assess condition of buildings/systems.

* Assists with indoor and outdoor College event set-up and break-down, including tables, chairs, podiums, risers.

* Mow, weed eat, prune, etc.

* Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
* Valid state of Tennessee driver's license
* Must pass a background investigation, including a favorable motor vehicle record and criminal background report.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as a Maintenance Worker.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Excellent customer service skills
* Knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, and electrical skills.
* Ability to use various tools and equipment.
* Ability to work in different types of climates including both hot and cold, indoors and outdoors.
* Ability to regularly push, pull, lift, move and carry 50-75 pounds.
* The ability to be able to work occasional overtime in the evenings as well as nights and weekends to support campus events and/or respond to maintenance and weather issues.
* Able to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding.
* Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
