Project Accountant at Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC in District of Columbia, Washington DC

Job Description:

Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with locally based commercial client in the search for a Project Accountant to join their growing team. This role will report directly to the Controller and will be the point person for all job costing accounting functions. Candidates should have a strong background in both job costing and in processing reconciliations to assist in the month-end closing process. Essential Job Duties

• Conduct in-depth job costing evaluations to accurately distribute labor, material, and overhead expenses across projects.


• Partner with project managers to assess financial forecasts, budget status, and overall project profitability.


• Generate and submit project invoices promptly, verifying alignment with contractual obligations and billing terms.


• Update and organize financial documentation for each project, including reimbursables, subconsultant billings, and change orders.


• Analyze project expenditures and collaborate on monthly close activities to ensure financial accuracy.


• Review and communicate project budget performance, identifying variances and providing insights to relevant stakeholders.


• Develop internal and external financial reports and dashboards to support decision-making.


• Uphold compliance with internal accounting procedures, client agreements, and regulatory standards.


• Contribute to audit readiness by compiling required documentation and addressing project-specific inquiries.


• Recommend enhancements to accounting practices and internal controls to increase accuracy and efficiency in project tracking.
