Description: The Judge Group is in search of a CNC Applications Engineer for a well respected and growing precision machining manufacturer in the west suburbs. Responsible for processing, tool layouts, and programming of CNC multi-axis machines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create proposal for new parts from customer print.
Indicate appropriate machine tool, material, cycle time/ parts per hour, tooling cost, subsequent operations, and outside services needed.
Create tool layout sheet specifying all tooling and hardware needed to setup a specific job in a specific machine tool.
Create color coded "offset print" to communicate to the machine operator what tool effects what geometry on the part so the operator can make appropriate adjustments to keep part within specification.
Maintain and update layouts and offset prints to keep current with process improvements and changes.
Create machining process: Sequence of operations | Machine tool selection. | Cutting tool selection. | Work holding selection
Determine appropriate machining parameters (speeds, feeds, and DOC) based on work piece material and cutting tool material and cutting tool geometry.
Create C.N.C. program using Partmaker or Espirit CAD CAM software. For C.N.C. turning centers, swiss type C.N.C. turning centers, and C.N.C. multispindle. Manufacturers Index, Miyano, Star, Mori Seiki, Okuma, Daewoo, Takamaz, and ZPS. Provide all C.N.C. programs for 33 C.N.C. machines. Siemens 840D, Fanuc, Okuma OSP, and Mitsubishi controls and programming languages.
Setup part files in the Zoller tool presetter for all Index and Star ST38 processes.
Train personnel on machine setup, machine operation, and machine repair for all Index and C.N.C. department machinery.
Continuous Improvement: Monitor and improve cycle time and process capability on all C.N.C. machines. Perform machine setups when department is behind or when setup person is absent.
Corrective action and problem solving: Attend corrective action meetings with quality control to provide technical solutions to process inefficiencies and quality concerns.
Troubleshoot and repair machinery: Seek advice from machine manufacturer when unable to resolve issues. Knowledge of Siemens Step 7 PLC program required to track down malfunctions within the machine's logic system
Locate and secure most economical replacement components needed for machine repair.
Coordinate repair and remanufacture of mechanical and electronic machine components.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
At least 3-5 years of machine programming experience
Knowledge of machining processing and CNC machines.
Knowledge of blueprint reading, GDT, inspection equipment, and tooling.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
