Junior Tool & Die Maker at Federal Signal Corporation in University Park, Illinois

Job Description:

A person who with the use of tools and drawings or sketches performs the work necessary in the making and repairing of dies, tools, plastic or die cast molds, tool hardening, fixtures, gauges, experimental or model work, building of special machinery and equipment, tool inspection and precision grinding. This person is also capable of using electronic files to create programs required to construct these tools utilizing 2D C.A.M. software. This person is capable of utilizing their programming skills to create programs to meet our production needs.


Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Must have knowledge of CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, drill presses as well as various other shop tools.

  • Must have the ability to manufacture tooling, fixtures, and parts from prints or CAD files.

  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Must have the knowledge and ability to trouble shoot and fix dies, fixtures, tooling and equipment.

  • Must have Knowledge of AutoCAD and or SolidWorks to create or manipulate drawings to complete a project.

  • Must have knowledge of 2D CAD/CAM software to be able to program and manufacture parts.

  • Must be able to work safely around industrial machines and equipment.

  • Must have their own shop tools as well as precision measuring instruments.


Education and Work Experience:



  • The completion of a Tool and Die Apprentice program or related training with Tool room experience.


Wage:  $42.33/hr
