The University of South Florida's Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking qualified physician for the role of a clinican-educator in primary care internal medicine. Successful candidates must have an MD/DO and be Board Certified/Board Eligible in Internal Medicine and a passion for teaching. Essential duties include providing primary care to a general internal medicine patient base while supervising and training medical students and internal medicine residents in the ambulatory setting. The position is on a principal non-tenure earning track. The Division of General Internal Medicine practices at 2 locations in Tampa and serves a highly diverse patient population in terms of demographics, socioeconomic status, and medical pathology. Our academic team includes 7 physicians, 7 advanced practice providers and the appropriate ancillary staffing. We work integrally with the Quality and Patient Safety Department to be the testing grounds for new initiatives to improve patient outcomes and value-based care. We have several active research projects including industry-sponsored clinical trials for COVID and diabetes as well as grants funded by the NIH and professional societies (ACP etc). We are a clinically integrated network with Tampa General Hospital and Medical Group where another 50+ primary care physicians are working in non-teaching positions to fully serve the community's access needs. TGH is a top hospital in Florida and ranked in USNWR in several internal medicine specialties including gastroenterology, endocrine, pulmonary, geriatrics, and transplant (renal, lung, heart liver, pancreas).MINIMUM:
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing or research in refereed and other professional journals, and be a recognized authority in the field of specialization.
PREFERRED:
MD/DO and BE/BC in Internal Medicine. Previous experience in a teaching setting preferred.
