Job Summary:


We are seeking a skilled and experienced Welding Leader to oversee and coordinate our welding operations at our Pennsylvania facility, near Bethlehem, PA. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role is responsible for directing the welding team, ensuring high-quality welds, efficient workflow, and a safe working environment. We are looking for a candidate with strong technical welding expertise, proven leadership abilities, and a commitment to quality and safety. This role could be suitable for a Welding Supervisor or a Welding Foreman.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead and direct a team of welders, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.

  • Interpret blueprints, welding specifications, and work orders to ensure accurate and efficient welding processes.

  • Assign welding tasks to team members based on their skills and project requirements.

  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of welds produced, ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.

  • Troubleshoot welding issues and provide technical expertise to welders.

  • Ensure that all welding equipment is properly maintained and in safe operating condition.

  • Enforce all safety regulations and procedures within the welding department, promoting a proactive safety culture.

  • Manage workflow and prioritize tasks to meet production schedules and deadlines.

  • Monitor and track welding production and efficiency, identifying and addressing any bottlenecks or areas for improvement.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of welding procedures and best practices.

  • Conduct regular communication with the welding team regarding project updates, safety information, and company policies.

  • Participate in the training and onboarding of new welding personnel.

  • Maintain accurate records of welding activities, inspections, and any equipment issues.

  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, including fabrication, machining, and quality control, to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process improvement within the welding department.

  • Ensure welders have the necessary tools and equipment to perform their tasks effectively.



Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in welding is highly preferred.

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a professional welder in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

  • Proven experience in a lead welding role or supervisory/foreman capacity.

  • Expert-level proficiency in various welding processes, including SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, FCAW.

  • Thorough knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and safety procedures.

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot welding issues.

  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Knowledge of welding codes and standards, AWS, ASME, etc.

  • Ability to enforce safety regulations and promote a safety-conscious culture.

  • Proficiency in using various welding equipment and hand tools.

  • Basic computer skills for communication and potential record-keeping.
