About the Position

Specialty Systems, Inc. has an opening for a Software Engineer with the below described skills and experience to join our team of technical professionals supporting our Department of Defense customer at the Joint Base MDL. In this position, you will have a high-profile role in the development and qualification of systems used for the support of unique Department of Defense systems. Ideal candidates will have a broad set of software engineering technical skills and must be able to work both individually and within a team environment. As a member of our team, you will be able to experience the professional satisfaction of playing a key role in ensuring that our Department of Defense customers’ systems that have a direct impact on our country’s warfighting and peace-keeping capabilities are performing at optimal levels. This position is located at our Toms River, NJ location.

Job responsibilities will include:

• Review software requirements specifications, software design documents, and test procedures.
• Developing/maintaining software systems/modules using contemporary programming languages such as Java, C#, C/C++, Python, HTML, Angular, and SQL.
• Utilizing Integrated Development Environments such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Eclipse, Git, and GitLab.  Integrate development with the CI/CD Pipeline.
• Utilize Open-Source Software (OSS) packages within custom software code.
• Performing unit testing of software code.  Apply security best practices including Static Application Security Testing (SAST) and Software Composition Analysis (SCA).
• Designing and maintaining traceability from software requirements to design elements to code modules.
• Participating in scrum meetings and project team peer reviews of software development work products.
• Working within multiple Software Development Lifecycle methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
• Support software demonstration, installation, troubleshooting, and system level testing.

 

Position Qualification Requirements:

• A BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM field is preferred.
• Must be able to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Should have at least 2 or more years’ experience working in a software development role.
• Security+ CE or the ability to obtain the certification within 6-9 months.

 

Technical:

• Must have software development skills in one or more of the following: HTML, C, C++, and/or C#.
• Must have experience developing/supporting software applications on the Windows and/or Linux platforms.
• Individuals should be self-starters able to work with little supervision to support agile development of software.
• Should have experience performing software unit testing.
• Should have experience with Visual Studio or other IDE environments.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Must be able to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.

 

Security Clearance Notice:
