Position Summary:



Abingworth is looking to add a(n) Associate/Senior Associate to their venture team in Menlo Park. The role will involve supporting the deal team in identifying and executing new deals. In an organization where collaboration and teamwork are highly valued, the hire will work closely with Abingworth colleagues across all 3 offices.



Responsibilities




  • Diligence novel scientific breakthroughs and help recommend high-potential investments in the life sciences

  • Perform analysis including financial projections, valuations and returns analysis

  • Work closely with colleagues to develop exit strategies for portfolio companies to maximize value to the fund

  • Cultivate and maintain a strong network of influential pharma and biotech executives, entrepreneurs, potential co-investors, bankers, LPs, scientists and academics

  • Represent Abingworth credibly in the market to all relevant audiences

  • Stay current on relevant developments in science, the biopharma industry and life-science investment community




Qualifications


The ideal candidate will have prior experience in biotech venture investing with a strong background in science and/or medicine. The preferred candidate will have:



Education & Certificates





  • Advanced degree (Ph.D. or MD is ideal), will consider those with strong science undergrad degrees




Professional Experience





  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a life-sciences (therapeutics) VC firm and/or 2 years of experience at a top life sciences consulting firm or similar relevant commercial experience in a biotech or pharmaceuticals company.

Benefits/Compensation



The compensation range for this role is specific to Menlo Park and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.


The anticipated base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $240,000.


In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
