Responsibilities:
The Medical Practice Manager for the Mercer Center for IDD Care will manage the practice budget and review and maintain financial records for the practice. In addition, this position will work on improving efficiency while providing excellent customer service. The incumbent will help establish efficient and effective operating procedures and is responsive to the needs of patients, providers, staff and the University. Collaborates with the Medical Director and Nurse Manager for the Mercer Center for IDD Care to prepare the annual operating and capital budgets. The Medical Practice Manager and the Nurse Manager will work together to form the administrative team for the Mercer Center for IDD Care. This includes planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing administrative services while ensuring the level of customer service offered by the Center is maintained at the highest levels for the organization. The Medical Practice Manager will assist in the production of analytical reports that document the financial viability and performance of the Mercer Center for IDD Care. This position will communicate their analysis to the Medical Director for Mercer IDD Care and the Executive Director of Finance & Administration for MUSM, and others within the organization as appropriate.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or other closely related field and three years of progressive management experience in healthcare management, preferably in a multi-specialty setting. This must include experience that developed knowledge of provider billing, collections, credentialing, compliance, regulatory guidelines, and fee schedules. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point are required as well as previous experience with practice plan, hospital systems, and financial systems software, including electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Required to know all aspects of the medical practice management standards; financial management, human resource management, budget planning, information management, business and clinical operations and professional responsibility.
The Medical Practice Manager will work from a private office setting but will be expected to travel to off-site business meetings when appropriate.
Analytical skills for formulating recommendations to the Medical Director, the MUSM Executive Director of Finance & Administration, and University officials regarding the Mercer Center for IDD Care annual budget and clinician productivity performance activity.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
Excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
Exceptional organizational and time management skills are a must.
