Mortgage Closer

Compensation and Job Title will be commensurate with experience.

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

REPORTS TO: Manager of Mortgage Loan Operations

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Responsible for overseeing the final stages of the mortgage loan process, preparing all closing documents, ensuring all documentation is accurate, coordinating with involved parties, submitting for a Quality Control Review, Funding the loan and handling all items related to selling the loan to investors.

  • Close Secondary Market Mortgage and In-house portfolio mortgage loans.
    1. Review file in detail, including Homeowners insurance and other items to ensure file is ready to close. 
    2. Coordinate with attorney, borrower and Loan Originator to schedule a closing date.
    3. Prepare Closing Disclosure to meet TRID- Truth in Lending Integrated Disclosure guidelines and get to borrower at a minimum of 3 days prior to closing.  
    4. Prepare full closing package
    5. Send full closing package for a full Quality Control review.
    6. Fund the loan and request the wiring of funds to closing. 
    7. Prepare loan for Booking 
  • Customer Service 
    1. Serve as closing contact for the transaction.
    2. Act as a liaison between borrower, underwriter, loan originator and lender.
    3. Return all inquiry calls within one business day.
  • File System Management 
    1. Compile documents for customer files and enter intakes to Data Management System for processing and assessment.
    2. Assure that all customer files are complete and in compliance with regulatory guidance and internal policies.
    3. Ensure customer privacy, security of files.
  • Administrative Support 
    1. Prepare denial letter(s), withdraws, and cancel files when necessary.
    2. Handle all loan delivering and purchasing requirements, as well as incoming wire for purchase.
    3. Participate in regular process/ system reviews to support a process on ongoing improvement.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

  • Requires excellent customer service in person and on the phone. 
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Requires excellent record-keeping and file management skills. 
  • Knowledge and experience using MS Word, Excel, Outlook 
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting, the opportunity to telework is not available.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.  

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open cabinets.  This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary. 

Travel

Limited local travel may be required for this position.

Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic lending, real estate contracts and language, foreclosure, short sales and delinquent accounts preferred.
  • General knowledge of real estate closing process is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting processes and procedures preferred.
