Accounting Analyst

 

CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt

 

REPORTS TO: Controller

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

Will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

 

Essential Functions

  • Reconcile General Ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies. All outstanding items must be researched and communicated to involved parties/departments.
  • Communicate unusual General Ledger transactions to Controller/Assistant Controller.
  • Respond to regulatory and audit requests.

 

Other Duties

  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable process as needed.
  • Provide back up to other accounting team members.
  • Perform other ad hoc analysis as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills/Abilities

  • Will need to develop a strong understanding of general ledger functionality within JH Silverlake.
  • Working knowledge of computers, especially use of spreadsheets (specifically Excel).
  • Working knowledge of accounting theories and practices and accepted office procedures; good knowledge of intermediate accounting procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Ability to perform numerical detailed work quickly and accurately and to make difficult mathematical computations.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and regulatory personnel.
  • Detail oriented.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Work Environment

This job operates in an office setting, the opportunity to telework is not available.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  Office environment with job duties conducted via telephone, face to face meetings, and on the computer.  

 

Physical Demands

This position requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open cabinets.  This position requires bending, stooping or standing as necessary.

 

Travel

Some travel may be required for this position.

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Working knowledge of the banking industry is a plus.
