Job Summary

The Maintenance Superintendent directs the function of the day-to-day functions of the Maintenance, Controls and Electrical groups. This position is responsible for assuring the safe and efficient operation, utilization, and control of maintenance for all equipment, including production, infrastructure and facilities.  The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for the safety, productivity, attendance, and quality of work of all assigned to Maintenance supervision, controls engineers, maintenance technicians and industrial electricians.

Salary Range 115K-125K

  • Manage and supervise a team of maintenance supervisors to ensuring work is assigned in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement and Neenah Foundry expectations. 

  • Work closely with the Maintenance Manager, planners, purchasing, and vendors to properly balance and coordinate the repair and/or routine maintenance of equipment.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot maintenance, electrical and control issues, implementing corrective actions.

  • Work with the production, engineering, controls and maintenance to implement sensing and controls solutions to monitor status and provide predictive data to improve uptime and quality.

  • Work with the MRO store (stock room) to manage the inventory of maintenance and electrical and electronic (controls) spare parts.

  • Plan and execute maintenance and repair work for all equipment in the foundry, including hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, switchgears, panelboards, transformers, lighting systems and more.

  • Help develop preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve the reliability of all equipment.

  • Work with the controls group to address potential risks presented by obsolete hardware and software within our install base.

  • Work with engineering and other management on the justification of upgrade in equipment around the plant.

  • Review, maintain and verify all check sheets and preventative maintenance programs (PM’s) are being completed with necessary action items in a timely manner.

  • Monitor uptime and efficiencies of all production equipment in the plant, working with other maintenance and production supervisors/ managers, as well as plant and project engineering to drive improvement and efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations by qualifying employees to perform lock-out/ tag-out procedures, arc-flash protection, and electrical grounding.

  • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.

  • Investigate accidents or injuries and prepare reports of findings to Safety and HR departments.

 

Expected Areas of Competence (KSAs)

 


  • Strong knowledge of all systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, machine operation, controls and electrical functions.

  • Strong knowledge of CMMS (Maximo)

  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to direct in a team environment.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations, including OSHA and NFPA 70E.

  • Working knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) aka NFPA 70.

  • Experience with PLC’s and other automated control systems.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • Ability to understand schematics and troubleshoot issues.

  • Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.

  • Managing one's own time and the time of others.

  • Strong leadership and management skills through motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.

  • Strong ability to balance resources and identify the best people for the job.

  • The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.

  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to draw conclusions.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.

Education and Experience Requirements


  • A degree or certification in a maintenance discipline (through education ,experience or a combination).

  • Prior maintenance supervision, foreman and or leadman experience preferred.

  • Experience in heavy metal manufacturing preferred.

  • Experience in manufacturing in a unionized environment is a plus.

Physical Requirements


  • Must be physically able to stand for long periods of time.

  • Must actively engage in safe working practices.

  • Must be able to tolerate hot working conditions and a loud environment.

  • Must be comfortable working in small spaces.

  • Must be comfortable intense physical demands of the position.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

The candidate must be able to access, analyze and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and to communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with the company's Human Resources operations.  

Travel Requirements

5-10% to visit other facilities or attend training, etc.  

Salary Range 115K-125K
