Position Description
The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for operating the asphalt plant and supervising daily activities at the plant site. This plant is a mobile plant and travels to different job sites throughout the season. Travel is required.Job posting for the 2025 construction season with anticipated season start in April 2025.

Duties and responsibilities
Safe operation of the Asphalt Plant with up-to-date computerized equipment controls
Oversee plant maintenance and operation
Work closely with the Quality Control Department
Monitor material quality and inspect material
Calibrate plant for maximum efficiency
Monitor inventory levels for all of the mix materials
Determine proper quantities of materials needed to produce asphalt
Ensure that the equipment & plant functions as designed at all times
Assist with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions in order to minimize downtime as well as striving to improve equipment/plant operating efficiency to maximize production, save time, save fuel, and minimize labor
In charge of plant tear-down and plant sets
Daily reporting
Efficient and effective communication with truck drivers, supervisors, testing technicians, and all personnel related to the project
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Two years of hot asphalt plant experience preferred
Valid Driver’s License required
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Indoor/Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
Physical requirements
Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
Standing for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Ability to work long hours and weekends.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
