Position Description
The Asphalt Paver Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the paver. Travel required 25% - 100% depending on the crew. Job posting for the 2025 construction season with anticipated season start in April 2025.

Duties and responsibilities
Operate equipment following company procedures and safety regulations
Monitor the operational condition of the paver, check for loose parts, and ensure that the machine is operating properly, and that machine is kept clean and maintained daily.
Check all fluid levels daily and perform daily walk-around inspection, including greasing as necessary, when operating equipment
Must have the ability to hold a straight line and grade while watching for overhead obstructions.
Set a paving speed that balances tons per hour, job capacity, and compaction.
Direct truck driver to enter paver smoothly, raise and lower box, and exit paver when empty.
Work with the Screed Operator to establish and maintain proper head of material and mat quality.
Start and stop the paver successfully to prevent end-of-load roughness and beginning-of-load rise.
Operate the equipment in the right direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage to property
Operate equipment in various situations, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
Report needs for large repairs to appropriate parties
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum two years of operating an Asphalt Paving Machine
Experience operating multiple pieces of construction equipment is preferred
Possess a valid driver’s license (Class A CDL preferred)
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
May be required to work 65+ hours, 6 days a week.

Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
