Position Description
The Asphalt Screed Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the screed used to pave asphalt surfaces in the construction of highways and streets. Travel required 25% - 100% depending on the crew. Job posting for the 2025 construction season with anticipated season start in April 2025.

Duties and responsibilities
Operate construction equipment following company procedures and safety regulations
Check all fluid levels daily and perform daily walk-around inspection, including greasing as necessary, when operating equipment
Place asphalt at the correct grade and slope
Operate the equipment in the right direction and angles to prevent accidents and damage to property
Understand material thickness and type of material being laid
Maintain effective communication with the paver operator
Operate equipment in various situations, maintaining proper awareness of one’s surroundings
Report the need for large repairs to the appropriate parties
All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations
Position Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum one year of asphalt screed operating experience
Experience operating multiple pieces of construction equipment is preferred
Possess a valid driver’s license
Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment
Working conditions
Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises.
May be required to work 50+ hours, 6 days a week.

Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner.
Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments.
Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment.
Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally.
Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching.
Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
