Maintenance Superintendent at Targa Resources in Mont Belvieu, Texas

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will have responsibility for overseeing all maintenance teams for Targa’s Mont Belvieu North Complex.  The individual is imperative to ensure the safe installation, maintenance, and proper function for the mechanical equipment.  This role is essential to the reliability of Targa’s entire value chain.

 

JOB FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Lead the site maintenance teams to implement best maintenance practices and provide technical expertise to reduce costs and improve process uptime and mechanical reliability


  • Maintain preventative and predictive maintenance programs implemented in Maximo.

  • Supervise contract work activities to ensure compliance with standards, procedures, and contracts.

  • Facilitate billing disputes or other issues as needed

  • Control maintenance expenditures within budget requirements by monitoring costs, adjusting priorities, and forecasting maintenance needs.

  • Oversight of established overtime guidance and safety policies

  • Support training maintenance personnel in safe and proper job procedures

  • Engage and work alongside maintenance supervisors to leverage knowledge and resources throughout MB North

  • Responsible for Safety of all supervised employees.

  • Responsible for Environmental protection of the facility and training of direct reports to ensure understanding of facility environmental requirements.

  • Oversee contract crews as needed

  • Diagnose routine and non-routine equipment malfunctions by observing operation, listening, and using diagnostic equipment to locate causes of trouble.

  • Support long-term reliability improvement solutions

  • Directly support development of annual budgets and maintain monthly financial flash with detailed information for any budgeted amounts overspent or not spent.

  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or training is preferred

  • Ability to manage costs, design, implement, and maintain systems designed to optimize the performance of the maintenance function.

  • Valid driver license required

  • Minimum 5 years of work-related experience

  • Knowledge of PSM and mechanical drawings, maintenance records, maintenance procedures, equipment drawings, and maintenance manuals

  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Access, Word) and networking experience

  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, FR)

  • Facility operates 24/7, must be able to respond at all hours as needed

  • Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all teams, personnel, and vendors

  • An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic

  • Ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources

  • Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise excellent judgment and common sense

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required

 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Completion of advanced training, schooling, or certificates

  • Leadership experience; 7yr+ managing and maintaining facility equipment

  • Has an excellent understanding of utilizing predictive maintenance tools- oil analysis, vibration, trending, etc. including other diagnostic tools

  • Plant maintenance/manufacturing experience, specifically NGL fractionation facilities

  • Experience with Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

  • Proficiency in use of all Microsoft Office Software Modules, including Power BI

  • Experience managing operating budgets

  • Able to troubleshoot equipment failures.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:


  • Ability to lift, push, and pull at least a minimum of 50lbs.

  • Ability to work in changing climate conditions.

  • Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing.
