Assistant Controller - Commercial Construction Company
Location: On-site | Salary: $120,000 - $145,000 + Excellent Benefits Ledgent, a Roth Staffing Company, is partnering with our client-a well-established and growing commercial construction company with five related entities-in their search for a highly skilled Assistant Controller. About the Role:
As the Assistant Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role that reports directly to the CFO, with the potential to step into that Controller role in the near future.
Key Responsibilities:

Act as the primary liaison between field operations and finance-ensuring both sides have the timely, accurate information needed to operate efficiently
Conduct in-depth financial analysis to interpret data, uncover trends, and present meaningful insights to leadership
Oversee day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger, budgeting, and financial reporting
Prepare and present division-level financial data at monthly leadership meetings
Assist the CFO in designing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
Supervise the job costing team, ensuring accuracy in project cost tracking and reporting
Provide mentorship to team members and promote financial understanding across departments
Support internal and external audit processes and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum 3 years of experience in finance or accounting within a commercial construction environment
Proven background in job costing, budgeting, general ledger, and financial reporting
Experience managing accounting functions for multiple entities, including acquired and startup businesses
High emotional intelligence with the ability to adapt communication styles to various stakeholders
Strong ability to present financial concepts in a clear, accessible manner to non-financial team members
Skilled in financial analysis, with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights
Experience preparing and presenting financial reports to leadership teams
Familiarity with construction industry accounting software is a plus
