REPORTS TO: Police Captain
EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time        
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
                            
                             
PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:  Provides security for personnel, real property, and equipment.  Investigates and documents crimes/incidents, documents and preserves evidence may have to testify in court as part of job..
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Patrol university property in a vehicle, on foot, or bicycle to provide securityResponds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service.Assist Patrol Officer with scheduling and approving reports.Perform campus patrol, victim/witness assistance, or as crime prevention officer.May provide first aid services until medical assistance arrives.Performs miscellaneous job duties as assigned.Complete reports as necessary on fire alarms, incidents, thefts, etc.
 
OTHER DUTIES: Perform related duties as assigned.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:A 2-year degree is preferred but not requiredHigh School Diploma or GEDPossession of a valid Kentucky operator’s license.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Skill in the use of first aid proceduresAbility to write reports containing technical informationAbility to understand and follow specific instructions and proceduresAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingAbility to complete moderately complex administrative paperworkAbility to gather and organize legal evidenceSkill in completing criminal investigationsAbility to react calmly and effectively in emergency situationsKnowledge of laws, regulations, methods, and university policies.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to continuously stand or walk.Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and live frequently.Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds. Internal Candidates are Encouraged to ApplyApplicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
