Job Description:
Budget Title: Senior Staff Assistant (SL-3)
Salary: $57,000 - $62,000
The Binghamton University Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnerships (EIP) provides a host of services and programs related to business development, commercialization and entrepreneurship that are available to students, faculty, staff, the greater business community and virtually anywhere. One of the cornerstone programs is the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator, located in downtown Binghamton. The Koffman is the home to several start-up companies and has a goal to foster economic revitalization throughout Broome County and the Southern Tier of New York state.
The Communications Specialist will report to the Koffman Executive Director at the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Partnerships (EIP) and collaborate closely with the staff in Research Advancement. This position provides critical support to a diverse team, with the goal of advancing Koffman's mission of startup growth, job creation, social equity advancement and brand awareness, among other objectives.
The communication specialist's primary purpose is to promote the programs and opportunities for startups offered through Koffman to its current member companies and provide assets for outreach staff to attract new member companies to Koffman. This staff member will be responsible for the planning and execution of strategic marketing initiatives using multiple marketing mediums. This includes professional writing (using AP style), visual content creation (such as graphic design and short-form video), social media, media relations, email marketing and virtual event creation and hosting. The successful applicant will work with the EIP Koffman Executive Director and Assistant Vice President and the entire Koffman Incubator staff to stay up to date on recruitment periods, company milestones and alignment with Koffman strategic goals. This position works with vendors for additional services such as commercial printing, branded apparel and creative services based on an annual marketing budget.
