Summary:

The License Practical Nurse at the Niagara Center will perform patient care, health teaching and health counseling in an oncology setting, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other licensed independent provider; assists in the goal of individualizing the care of patients in an attempt to support the patients to adapt to the disease process and achieve the highest level of wellness; performs routine nursing care procedures; performs venipuncture; assists with dermatologic procedures, including numbing biopsy sites and assisting provider with biopsies; assists with gynecological procedures and exams; enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.




Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience


License Requirement
License or permit to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New York.
Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited practical nursing school's LPN program.


NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.



The Preferred Qualifications



The preferred candidate will have the following skills/experiences:

• Experience as a LPN


• Experience working in an ambulatory clinic


• Experience with oncology patients


• Experience with dermatology and gynecology patients


• Degree in a health-related field
