Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Responsibilities:
Prepare and examine pediatric congenital patients for echocardiogram examinations, verifying their identity and obtaining health status and medical history.
Ensure ultrasound examinations correlate with patient clinical history and presentation; inform the physician of any contraindications.
Demonstrate proficiency in various echocardiogram modalities.
Analyze patient medical records to obtain necessary information for diagnostic procedures and prepare preliminary reports for cardiologist review.
Perform measurements and calculations according to laboratory and IAC protocols, providing an oral summary of preliminary findings to the cardiologist.
Assist Cardiac Sonographers and Cardiology Fellows with pre/post procedures, preliminary review of images, and reports.
Onboard new Sonographers with departmental orientation, in-service, and education.
Perform quality assurance on equipment, routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunctions.
Attend staff meetings, Echo lab QI, and patient care conferences to ensure continuing education and professional growth.
Participate in performance improvement activities and call schedule per departmental standards.
Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting mandatory/continuing education and skills competency requirements.
Collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care.
Demonstrate commitment to compassionate and personalized patient care.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of Cardiac Sonography Technology, Radiologic Technology, or Sonography Technology preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
Certified in Basic or Advanced Life Support (required).
One of the following certifications (required): Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International, Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
For those with RCS or RDCS AE, must obtain RCCS or RDCS PE within 18 months of employment.
