What You Will Contribute to OHM Advisors



The successful candidate will contribute to state and federal environmental compliance for transportation, stormwater mitigation, ecological restoration, and field monitoring projects. This role provides hands-on experience in the field and is ideal for individuals passionate about environment, conservation and habitat management.


Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct and assist with ecological surveys, including wetland delineation, threatened and endangered species identification and relocation, water quality monitoring, flora and fauna evaluation, habitat assessment, tree surveys, macroinvertebrate identification and monitoring, and stream health assessment.
  • Assist in preparing reports associated with the aforementioned surveys as well as invasive species management plans, habitat restoration and monitoring, and green stormwater infrastructure installations.
  • Collect, record, and analyze field data with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with diverse project teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Provide construction oversight for restoration projects.

Working Conditions:

  • Fieldwork will occur in diverse environments, including wetlands, forests, and construction sites, under various weather conditions.
  • Travel to project sites is required; occasional overnight travel may be necessary.
  • Must be physically able to perform field tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Requirements


Education, Experience, & Licensure:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree (or imminent completion) in biology, ecology, natural resource management, environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience is preferred in one or more of the following areas:
    • Ecological/environmental research.
    • Landscaping, horticulture, or tree service work.
    • Environmental restoration construction/implementation.
    • Ecological surveys or monitoring.
    • Invasive species management.
    • Stewardship or research with state or federal resource agencies (e.g., DNR, USFS, AmeriCorps, USGS, USFWS).
    • Volunteer stewardship with local nature preserves, land conservancies, or related organizations.
  • SCUBA certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
  • Strong communication skills, including professional and technical writing.
  • Familiarity with environmental restoration techniques and Midwest/Northcentral Northeast flora (including field identification).
  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools.
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to make informed decisions in the field.
