We're seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our construction team, with a focus on large-scale steel and commercial projects. In this key role, you'll oversee the full lifecycle of project estimation-from initial bid through proposal development-providing accurate, detailed cost analyses that help shape successful project strategies. This position is ideal for someone who brings both technical estimating expertise and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead the bidding process by sourcing competitive pricing from subcontractors and vendors.
Analyze construction documents and develop material, labor, and resource projections.
Prepare and present detailed estimates and proposals that account for timelines, value engineering, risks, and methodologies.
Drive coordination across teams, ensuring consistency and accuracy throughout the estimating process.
Conduct take-offs and align cost estimates with trade proposals for precision.
Submit and track RFIs to clarify project scope, reducing risk and eliminating surprises.
Leverage past project data to enhance estimate accuracy and create a reliable cost reference library.
Evaluate completed projects and provide insights for improving future estimating accuracy.
Maintain strong client and vendor relationships, acting as a trusted resource throughout pre-construction.
Monitor industry trends and costs to inform competitive and up-to-date estimates.
What We're Looking For:
Experience: 5-8 years in construction estimating, particularly in pre-engineered metal buildings, large commercial, or industrial projects.
Industry Knowledge: Strong background in general construction, with a focus on steel structures from 20,000 to 1M+ sq. ft.
Software Proficiency: Familiarity with Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Office (Excel, Project), AutoCAD, and estimating tools (e.g., Sage Estimating).
Leadership & Communication: Ability to mentor junior staff, lead estimation efforts, and clearly present complex data and cost breakdowns.
Efficiency: Comfortable managing multiple estimates at once and tracking details across a fast-paced project environment.
Technical Skillset: Understanding of CSI MasterFormat Divisions 00-33, construction materials, methods, and sequencing.
Preferred Skills & Tools (Not Required):
Proficiency in: Building Connected, BIM360, Revit, Navisworks, Smartsheets
Experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) is a plus
Working knowledge of federal and state construction regulations
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field
Valid driver's license (if using company vehicle or receiving a vehicle allowance)
Strong mathematical and analytical abilities
Ability to evaluate design conflicts and offer practical solutions
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Must maintain high ethical standards and attention to detail in all estimating work
